The Dangers of Rushed Growth, Focus on Strategic Pacing Instead

Welcome back to the Mid Market Insider!

Today we’re diving into the drawbacks of rushed growth in business. While it’s easy to get caught up in numbers, projections, and valuations, rushed growth often destroys the longevity and value of a company.

Let’s dive in:

It’s tempting to chase quick wins, but success needs time to marinate.

Strategic pacing beats impulsive decisions every time.

Our timeline for growth starts with understanding:

  • 90 days to analyze operations

  • 6 months to implement changes

  • 3 years to optimize

We like to call it Strategic Pacing (more on this in a future newsletter edition).

Why?

Real change takes time to take root.

Patience isn’t inaction.

We want to make decisions that prioritize long-term success over short-term gains.

Impulsive moves might look good on paper today, but at what cost?

Rushed decisions often backfire.

  • Cutting costs too quickly

  • Scaling without infrastructure

  • Launching products without product-market fit

That can erode trust with employees, customers, and shareholders.

Growth is easier than you think.

It’s mainly just focusing on the fundamentals:

  • Training teams

  • Refining processes

  • Building strong relationships

The rubber meets the road when you dedicate time and resources to a meaningful goal.

That’s all for today’s newsletter! Thanks for reading!

📅 Next Week:

Next week we’ll dive into the human element of business that so many private equity firms misunderstand, and why it must factor into every decision you make.

Keep building,
Nick
